Translate novels with ChatGPT in the 2novel editing workspace

Long-form translation needs a clear connection between source passages, AI output and edited text. 2novel organizes this work by book and chapter. The ChatGPT relay extension connects your browser’s ChatGPT session, submits task requests and returns results to your workspace for comparison, editing and saving.

Install the extension in desktop Chrome, sign in to ChatGPT and pair the browser with your workspace using a code created by 2novel. This uses the chatgpt.com session and does not require an OpenAI API key. The installation guide under Read next covers both the store and .zip methods.

After connecting, open Model settings to choose providers for Translation and Analysis, then save. These steps can use different providers. ChatGPT uses the session default model (auto), rather than an API model catalog. Start with a primary provider; a fallback is optional.

Trying one chapter lets you check the connection and the result in the context of your book.

1. Install and pair the extension, then check that the device is active.
2. Select ChatGPT for Translation in Model settings and save.
3. Add a source chapter you have permission to use, review the confirmation information and translate.
4. Compare the translation with the source, edit names and wording, then save.
5. Once reviewed, export a file or enable a reading link as needed.

The extension needs an active desktop browser and a signed-in ChatGPT session. If the computer sleeps, the extension is paused or ChatGPT requires action, work may wait for you to intervene. For API-key providers, 2novel has a separate connection flow; the provider may bill your account.

Open Settings to connect ChatGPT and choose your translation provider. If the extension is not installed yet, follow the guide under Read next before creating a pairing code. Start with a short chapter, keep the browser running and review the translation before continuing.
