How copyright takedown requests work on 2Novel under Vietnamese law and the DMCA.

Last updated: 10/6/2026

1.About the platform and our role

2Novel is a self-serve translation workspace: users upload or paste text into their own private workspace, choose a translation source, and receive translations. Content inside a workspace is private by default.

Content only becomes public when a user creates a shared read link. We do not publish, edit or release any work ourselves; 2Novel is a translation and storage tool operating at the user's request — an intermediary service under Article 198b of Vietnam's Intellectual Property Law and Decree 17/2023/ND-CP.

When we receive a valid removal request from a rights holder or their authorized representative, we disable the shared link and remove the public content following the process below.

2.Removal process under Vietnamese law

This is the primary process. You do not need to file a US-style DMCA notice to be acted on.

A valid notice must include:

  • Rights holder identification: full name or organization name, address, email, phone number. Representatives must include authorization documents.
  • Basis for the right: the work's title, author, and evidence of ownership (copyright registration, assignment/licensing contract, or proof of lawful publication).
  • The specific URLs of the allegedly infringing content on 2Novel — including shared read links — one URL per line.
  • A statement that the information provided is accurate and that the sender accepts legal responsibility for the notice.

We handle it as follows:

  • We record the time the notice was received.
  • Within 72 hours of a valid notice: we disable the shared link or block access to the listed content, then notify the workspace owner with the reason and how to object.
  • If the notice is incomplete, we reply asking for the missing information; the deadline restarts once we have everything.

Removal applies to public access. The text and translations inside the user's private workspace are not deleted — stopping public distribution is the part we control and the part the law requires of an intermediary.

3.Who may file

Requests are only accepted from the copyright owner of the infringed work, or a legally authorized representative with valid authorization.

Filing a false or abusive request may lead to legal liability under Section 512(f) of the DMCA and related law.

4.Contents of a valid DMCA notice

If you are familiar with the US DMCA process, we accept that format too. A valid request must include all of the following:

  • A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
  • Identification of the infringed work: title, author, year of publication, plus a link to the original or proof of ownership.
  • The specific URLs of the infringing content on 2novel.app, one per line. A broad request like "remove all of book X" is not sufficient.
  • Your contact information: full name, address, phone number and email.
  • A good-faith statement: "I believe the use of the material described above is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
  • A statement of responsibility: "The information in this notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, I am the owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed."

5.How to file

Send the complete information above by email to [email protected] with a subject starting "[Copyright]" or "[DMCA]" followed by the work's title. The 72-hour window applies as described under the removal process.

A request left incomplete for 14 days after we ask for clarification may be closed.

6.Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to [email protected] containing:

  • A physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the removed content and its URL before removal.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the content was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  • Your full name, address, phone number and email.
  • A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the courts where you reside (or Vietnam if you reside outside the United States).

If the counter-notice is valid and the complainant does not file suit within the statutory period, we may restore the shared link.

7.Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly share content publicly that is confirmed to infringe copyright will have their sharing rights restricted, suspended or permanently removed under 2Novel policy.

8.Contact

For all copyright requests and general contact, email [email protected]. Detailed contact channels and per-situation guidance are on the Contact page.
