Connect and choose AI providers

The system provider is supplied by 2novel; an own provider uses your account with that AI service. Available providers and permissions depend on your workspace. See Plans & billing or the pricing page for current access and costs.

Go to Settings → Connect AI providers, choose a supported provider and add a key.

1. Enter the key from your provider account.
2. Enter an encryption passphrase. This protects the AI key and is separate from your 2novel sign-in password. Store it safely.
3. Enable a custom endpoint only when you actually use a compatible service at that address.
4. Use Test connection if you want to verify the connection, then save. Testing does not save the key.

Connecting makes a provider available. Go to Settings → Models for each step to choose what actually runs.

1. Analysis: choose the provider for context, characters, terminology and analysis tasks.
2. Translation: choose the provider for chapter translation and translation checks.
3. Leave fallback off unless needed. When enabled, choose a different provider or model from the primary.
4. Save configuration. New runs use the saved settings; changing a field without saving does not update the configuration.

If a provider is referenced by a saved step, change and save that configuration before disconnecting it. If another session changed the configuration, record your choices, reopen the panel to load the latest version and reapply them.
